gluten free monday

Tonight's recipe wasn't near the success that last Monday's recipe was. I think it all ties to the confusion between sweet potatoes and yams. I think what I was going for were yam fries, and I ended up with sweet potato fries. Oh well, they were tasty nonetheless.


side note: yams and sweet potatoes are both angiosperms but they are not related botanically. Yams are a monocot (a plant having one embryonic seed leaf). Sweet Potatoes, often called ‘yams’, are a dicot (a plant having two embryonic seed leaves).

sweet potato fries recipe:
3 sweet potatoes (did i mention they are different than yams?)
olive oil ( i still hear Rachel Rae's voice "EVOO")
cumin
red pepper flakes
thyme
black pepper
sea salt


chop up the sweet potatoes. the thinner the better-- i love 'em crunchy! put in a bowl and put a light amount of EVOO, and splashes of the various spices. 

I placed my sweet potato fries on my pizza stone to add crunchie/woodstone flavor
